Charlotte S. Lewis what is her background story?

Was Charlotte born on the island?
I don't think she is Annie (because she is too young, hair color etc.) but i really don't have a clue on her back story.
Does anyone have any theories on her?

Recall that Ben shot her at one time...would he shoot Annie/His Daughter??? Certainly if she was born on the island (as seems obvious) Ben would know about her, so WTF? (I do fear that CSLewis is a late addition to the overall LOST plot line, added in to extend the idea by a season, so is not fully entangled in the story from the get-go).

What if Charlotte is indeed Ben's real daughter. When Ben says that Widmore killed his daughter, he is not talking about Alex, but Charlotte, who Widmore actually did kill.
