So what's up with Smokey taking Jacob's rocking chair, that's not right.

I thought the eye which popped up at the window was Desmond. But if it was him, how was he in the cabin and why? I'm sure there's a Desmond timeshift theory out there already.
Plus, once you're told who is sat in the chair it's obvious, but only if you've seen the mobisode. But again, why?? My head hurts just thinking about it. I'm sure C and J will come up with something.
