Did Smokey ever leave the Island? I think It did. I believe that Jacob's Cabin, is a portal off the Island. Jacob used it on his adventures off island. When O6 are back in LA , Jack that is . Jack has vision of his father Christen, and Kate has a vision of Clare . I believe it was actually them via Jacob cabin. Remember illana said someone has been using it not living in it , that is why she said burn it! The reason Smokey came back too the Island is because It needed to trap all the candidates on the Island too kill them so it could be free!
