If you believe that Sayid actually killed Ben with the shot to his upper body and If you are of the belief that Ben is resurrected (brought back alive by the island. Reborn.) then how does his problem with his father forgetting his birthday fit in or matter to Ben so much. The birthday thing really bothered Ben and the writers made a point to emphasize it. Why would it bother a person who is reborn? This confuses me.

Maybe Ben isn't really the grown up Harry Potter. Maybe he took on Benjamin Linus's name in the same way he took Henry Gale's name. His drunk father wouldn't know the difference if some child, maybe an other, took the place of Ben.
