I feel the exact opposite. I find most NPR hosts (and listeners) sound depressed and sound as though speaking through the nose. Not to mention monotone. I have listened to my share of NPR, and off the top of my head "Click and Clack" of Car Talk are an exception. When I get home I will download some NPR podcasts to remember why I don't like the way they speak.You-Know-Who wrote: Stephen how can you listen to so much BBC? Thank you for having you, how?Stephen wrote:I feel the exact opposite. I find most NPR hosts (and listeners) sound depressed and sound as though speaking through the nose. Not to mention monotone. World Have Your Say is syndicated on several public radio stations in the US. I can usually pick out the callers (and emails read by BBC folk). The women especially have the same disposition. The listeners don't sound quite like the NPR broadcasters, they have the attitude and flair their on-air counterparts lack. Except they sound whiny.
Or maybe the British voices are just exotic and I can't recognize the dullness that might be apparent to a brit. Once again when I return to the homestead I will analyze both sides.
Thank you for having me.
Nearly every guest on NPR says "thank you for having me" at the end of their interview. I don't know what it is, but I tire of that phrase real fast.You-Know-Who wrote:

It's just one of those things I'm too cool for.You-Know-Who wrote:Why did you promise yourself you'd never listen to This American Life? Because it's so addictive? :-)
I might check out some of those documentaries...
No, they don't. They have public broadcast voices: boring but informative. I like the tone that NPR has. It's very calm. They don't over-dramatize their stories, which I appreciate.Stephen wrote: I realized what it is: NPR folks don't have radio voices.

ok you inspired me to delete my Jay and Jack feed haha. I realized I only listen to it out of habit, and really they're getting quite annoying. and yeah the listener feedback calls are never very interseting, the "crackpot theory" of the week is always completely retarded, jack is always interrupting jay, I never learn anything new. I officially renounce their podcast!!Perry wrote:I can't handle Jay and Jack anymore.
80% Listener Feedback. zzzzz. They have so many listeners that they cant possibly look through everything so they're stuck with using phone calls from idiots.
On top of that, there's the Lost Recap which is so pointless if you listen to LLD
That is why it's called "crackpot theory". Their Lost podcast is okay, I could take it or leave it but their other shows Jay and Jack show and Married Man Podcast are frikkin hilarious.goodfellow408 wrote:Perry wrote:I can't handle Jay and Jack anymore.
