Maybe the igloo Hurley was painting was another clue. Also, speaking of Santa Claus, being day 91 on the island, it's only 3 days until Christmas.

Well if you listened to the Jorge Garcia interview with Jay & Jack, he says that he wasn't told what to draw and he was trying to think of something opposite to a tropical island so he drew the eskimo and igloo and then the director saw his drawing and decided to put it in the show, so it's probably not that important.
